From One Son to Many Students

We were first introduced to the Jesuit Community and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in the fall of 1987 when our son, Shane, entered the school as a freshman. He graduated in 1991 and went on to graduate from Boston College in 1995.

Strake Jesuit changed Shane’s life. He is the person he is today largely because of Strake Jesuit. He came away secure in his Catholic religion, confident in his ability as a speaker and writer, strong in his ability to attract good friends, well prepared in his academic self-discipline going on to college and extremely self-confident.

Today, Shane will say that the best four years of his academic life were at Strake Jesuit and that today his best friends are those he made in high school. As an added benefit, he also met his now wife—who is a St. Agnes alumna—in the Jesuit parking lot!

We were extremely active at the school during Shane’s four years at Jesuit. It started with consistent attendance at the parent-teacher nights where we were able to engage with the faculty as well as fellow parents. It was here that we made lasting friendships, not only with other parents but also with the Jesuit priests at the school, some of whom we still keep up with 30 years later.

Even though Shane graduated over 25 years ago, we are emphatic that it has been our good fortune to stay active and supportive of Strake Jesuit and the Jesuit Community. Strake Jesuit changed Shane’s life. He found himself there, and the school truly started him on his path as a Man for Others.

To show our appreciation to Strake Jesuit and the Jesuit Community we wanted to pledge our long-term support by including the school in our estate planning.
